Training - Catering Unit

The Catering Unit consists of a busy production and training kitchen and canteen. There are thirteen service users working in the kitchen/canteen area and ten trainees on a 2 year training programme. The Unit caters for all service users including the school, staff and visitors providing morning tea, hot lunch and afternoon tea. It also caters for periodic functions.

It operates from a four-week cycle menu providing soup, a choice of two main courses, salad bar, fresh vegetables and desserts, thus ensuring service users and staff eat a healthy balanced diet. Food is produced in a safe and hygienic manner and food production adheres to all food hygiene including H.A.C.C.P. All dishes are homemade and service users help with the production of food, setting up, service and cleaning.

Service users also avail of a variety of activities including Drama, P.E., Music, Swimming, Art and Social Outings.
